MacBook Air M1 chip OS Big Sur Ver 11.5.1

An errant cup of coffee killed the 2014-vintage MacBook Air that I was running OpenCPN on. Just bought a new 13" MacBook Air with the new M1 chip. I've looked everywhere for an answer to this: is the latest version of OpenCPN able to be used with the latest model and OS versions (see title for detail) of the MacBooks? And for that matter, the newest iPads?

I love this charting program; among all my chartplotters, OpenCPN is my go-to in any risky, uncertain situation.

Thanks in advance.

Should be OK on M1 chip equipped MacOS machines. Not compatible with any iOS things.
You could try it and report results.....

Thanks

Re: MacBook Air M1 chip OS Big Sur Ver 11.5.1

I was able to download and install OpenCPN successfully on the MacBook Air, and downloaded a few charts and so far everything looks normal. So it looks like -- at least so far -- that OpenCPN works on the latest Apple M1 chips and MacOS Big Sur 11.5.1. Nice to my favorite charting program available again!

Runnning OpenCPN here on a M1 MacMini with all Beta/testing stuff since December last year. Big Sur 11.x.x. from the beginning. OpenCPN as always in compatibility mode. No issues to report.

BCN:

What caused doubt was this compatibility line on the OpenCPN download page:

OpenCPN 5.2.4 for Mac OS X 10.7 - 10.15

Since the Mac OS is now well up into the 11 and 12 versions, I'd wondered if OpenCPN compatibility had followed.

Thanks for clarifying the compatibility with M1 and later OS versions.
