Installing opencpn on a Raspberry ph 3
Hello, i'm trying to install opencpn on my raspberry ph 3, but i get an error.
On the command: sudo add-apt-repository ppa pencpn/opencpn it will start and ask me to press enter to continue.
After pressing enter iget the error: could not find a distribution template for Raspbian/jessie
Anyone an idee what is going wrong?
Thanks in advance for your support.

That does not work is my experience. You can better take synaptic and fill in the right server adres.
If you don't have synaptic install it. (sudo apt install synaptic)
Start synaptic in the terminal (sudo synaptic)
go to Settings > sources >
take new or change the present OpenCPN adress
deb
Index of /bdbcat/opencpn/ubuntu
trusty (or xenial)
main
activate
reload
search and look if you find opencpn
close synaptic
in terminal (sudo apt update)
sudo apt install opencpn
you get a kind of error but that does not matter, pass this

Remove the *'s in my first post. Adress is shortened and not readable.

I'am sorry but this is the server address for the latest update.
Replace the word bdbcat with opencpn in the server adres an then it works and loads a complete version.
Groet,
Bram

Re: Installing opencpn on a Raspberry ph 3
Hi Bram,
Your tip brought me further, but unfortunately not with the expected result.
The outcome is still the same broken packages.
So, if you have some other tips/suggestions.
Groet

Kees,
did you see OpenCPN with search in synaptic ?
did you thereafter in the terminal:
sudo apt update
and then
sudo apt install opencpn
Yes you get some kind of a safety error message, but that does not matter. You can pass this one.
What OS are you using ? Trusty or Xenial version ?
Otherwise you can use OpenPlotter. Then you have every in one set. Raspian (Debian Jessy) and OpenCPN.
If you use Raspian you can update the system first:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
And you like to use the latest Pixel
sudo apt dist-upgrade

Re: Installing opencpn on a Raspberry ph 3
I see Opencpn in Synaptic (version 4.5.221-0 trusty1
Installed as you mentioned (even the dist-upgrade)
OS = Linux raspberrypi 4.4.38-v7+ #938 SMP Thu Dec 15 15:22:21 GMT 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux (On my bill = Raspbian PIXEL)
Did everything you mentioned but still the problem persist.

Re: Installing opencpn on a Raspberry ph 3
There seems to be something conflicting with your earlier installations.
You now know how to install OpenCPN and the server setting right..
First remove the present OpenCPN via Synaptic click on the square (Do a complete removal).
And then do a new install of OpenCPN and see if the conflicts are still present.
Regards,
Bram

The only option that is active, is "Mark for installation".
But that option is not working, than i get the message:

Depends: wx3.0-i18n but it is not going to be installed
Depends: opencpn-tcdata but it is not installable
Depends: opencpn-gshhs-low but it is not installable

You can try:
sudo apt install -f
and
sudo apt autoremove
I think you have to remove the failing files first.
