Installing/Building on Centos 8

I am a 20+ year Linux engineer. I am looking for advice on building OpenCPN from source, since RPMs don't seem to be available. The latest instructions haven't been updated past CentOS 7 (AFAIK). Who can I contact to get some insight on this project?

From OpenCPN 5.2 it's like this...
For all versions of Linux, except for Debian and *buntu, it is recommended to install the OpenCPN Flatpak version.

I tried flatpak. That does not work with CentOS 8 either.

I do maintain rpm for OpenSUSE builds and I had in the past also maintain Fedora version. I must be honest and maintaining OpenCPN is more and more difficult as the make files for the plugins have been changed ignoring distro packager.
Personnaly, I do not like the Flatpack model as it requires a download of a large amoutn of data (what can be very expensive from a boat) and does not benefit from any maintenance by the distro team.


I will provide a correction for the plugin when I have some free time. To be honest a large part of them already run.

Adpating to Centos should be simple, but you msut expect some package name changes.
