Install Weatherfax with Ubuntu 14.10 64bits

Hi,

I use OpenCPN for several years on a laptop with Lubuntu 32bits.
I changed my laptop and now I run Lubuntu 14.10 64bits.

My problem is Weatherfax, perfect job under 32bit but I cannot start the 64bits version (Opencpn V4.0).
The installation of the DEB file is normal, all files are in the right place but the opencpn.conf file contains no entry for this module and it is inaccessibe in OpenCPN. I tried to install the plugin with the TAR file but same issue.

From the log it seems weatherfax plugin is not installed at all on your system. Anyway, I will soon add it to the PPA, so the problem, whatever it is, should be solved.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Ubuntu 64 bit plugin downloads and installs without issue, but the weatherfax plugin does not show up in the plugins section of the settings screen to be enabled.

I don't think the weatherfax plugin has been added to the PPA, but is there a workaround in the mean time?

Are you using dpkg -i?

I have no idea if this is the problem but maybe it's putting the .so in /usr/local/lib/opencpn instead of /usr/lib/opencpn or vice versa? If this is the case, you can modify the .deb (it's a lot more than the .so file)

Yes, I used dpkg to install the plugin and I also tried to copy "file.so" into /usr/local/lib/opencpn (basic installation in /usr/lib/opencpn) but the problem is the same, no Weatherfax availablle.
I just wait news from Pavel for an installation with ppa. Thanks,

Everything _should_ go in /usr/lib/opencpn so if all the files are there I don't understand why the plugin is not found. It should at least post a message in the log file.

I confirm, I installed weatherfax with dpkg and after verification, the file "libweatherfax_pi.so" is in /usr/lib/opencpn/. But, Opencpn don't see this file!

and it does see the other .so files there? Can you temporarily move all of them away and verify no plugins load? What does "file libweatherfax_pi.so" give? Did you check the permissions?

I tried the test of moving all of the .so files out to a temporary folder. After that none of the plugins appeared in OpenCPN. When I moved them back in, they all loaded normally, except Weather Fax.
