Re: How to use OpenCPN on a tablet windows 8
NOTE! The latest version of this app actually seems to be r9 (not r6 referred to on the home page). It can be downloaded here: https://bitbucket.org/petrsimon/geol...tcp/downloads/
For information I have this working with OpenCPN on my Lenovo YogaBook running Windows 10 Pro Version 1803 Build 17134.228 (August 2018).
Thank you very much to @klubko for developing GeoLocationTCP and helping us windows users.

Re: How to use OpenCPN on a tablet windows 8
NB: In Windows 10, make SURE to:
- Turn ON Windows Location Service
(Settings > Location Privacy Settings)
- Turn ON the GPS device
(Settings > Turn Wireless Devices On or Off)
Note: be aware that Windows can and will use other location services such as WiFi and Cellular if for some reason the GPS is not available.
This may lead to navigation errors.

FWIW, I have found r6 to be more reliable than r9 on my tablet. I’m not sure what tweaks r9 offers, but you may want to test on both your devices and pick the one that’s best.

Re: How to use OpenCPN on a tablet windows 8
Haven’t used it this season, since my own boat broadcasts GPS over Bluetooth. I only use it when I take my Windows tablet onto other people’s boats, and haven’t done that this year. But previously I did not notice a difference in accuracy.

Ok thanks, I'm in the centre of continental europe at the moment so I can't get a position relative to a fixed object on a nautical chart from here

Re: How to use OpenCPN on a tablet windows 8
Hello all.
I have the same problem with my internal gps on my Win 10 tablet not being found by Opencpn and have tried to download GeoLocationTCP - but the links are down.
Are there any alternative download sites ?
Thanks to klubko and all concerned, this sounds like a fantastic bit of code.

Re: How to use OpenCPN on a tablet windows 8
I'll look later today if I still have an installation file on one of my drives.
Where should I sent it to?

Thank you for your kind assistance. I have sent you a pm with my email address.
P.S.
Ladyrover is a fine vessel, I was lucky enough to have had a Privilege 39' for a few years, we had many excellent adventures also.
Best regards
Nick

Re: How to use OpenCPN on a tablet windows 8
Thanks for the flowers, Lady Rover is a bit aged but well do a big refit next summer.
If I had a choice I'd swap for an old Lagoon 380 though. Not my dream boat, but more spacious.
My dreamboat would be a 40ft Outremer.
I sent you the files a few minutes ago.
Hope it helps,
best regards,
Franziska
