Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
Two questions:
What language is your windows system using?
What language have you set OpenCPN to use?

Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
1st - Yes the file I sent is the Capn file.
2nd - Thanks for your help. Maybe I will be able to use the files that OpenCPN are pointed at after a fix is applied. Thanks

The MI000AS0.A01 file, is a pcx-tile in a HDR/PCX chart. This is a legacy format that was a forerunner to the bsb charts. OpenCPN cannot read this format as is. There is a way around this fact, that is not so easy. Stich all the tiles together to one chart picture. This can then be geo-referenced and converted to a bsb/kap file and used in OpenCPN. Have a look at the Chart Conversion Manual | Official OpenCPN Homepage. There are scrips to handle this.
The end result is a very old (15 years) chart, not that it will matter much in your area anyway.

Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
Your OpenCPN screenshot looks just like an old problem from an early beta long before release 3.0.2. That problem was language dependent, but it has been fixed since a long time ago. So we need to find out what is going on.
I can tell from your screenshot that you are using OpenCPN in English, but please verify that that is correct. And tell me what your Windows system language is.
Also I would like to see your log file. This is a bit tricky for you, here are the steps to get it:
- In Windows, Click Start > Control Panel > Folder Options
- In the new Folder Options window that pops up go to the View tab
- Set Hidden Files and Folder to Show Hidden Files, Folder and Drives
- Also un-check the box called Hide extensions for known file types
- Now O K the Folder Options window.
- Next, on your hard-disk, navigate to the folder c:\ProgramData\opencpn
In this file there will be a file called opencpn.log
- Now post this file to Temp Share just like the others.

Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
Mysterious. Your logfile looks absolutely correct, at least in the last run the CM93 chart loads OK. (You did have permission problems earlier, but it looks like you have sorted those out).
Go to the Toolbox ("Spanner" icon on the toolbar) and then the Vector Charts tab.
Use the Mariner Standard display category, and click the Select All button, and make sure the CM93 Zoom detail slider is at something > 0. 2 is usually a good setting.
After OK'ing this, do you still have only gray land ?

Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
might it make a difference to uninstall and then install? Doing all of the changes that have been suggested in the postings?

Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
OK, I cannot explain this for now. But I see from the log you have been changing the settings around a lot, and had some permission problems on the way. So I think the best way is to revert to a clean installation.
You have your charts working in c:\CM93, so leave them there.
Then do the following:
- Uninstall OpenCPN 3.0.2
- Just to be sure, delete any folder in c:\Program Files(x86) that has a name starting with OpenCPN
- Go to c:\ProgramData\opencpn and delete all files in this folder.
- Install OpenCPN again.
Now start OpenCPN and tell it to load charts from C:\CM93

Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
GAH! I accidentally left out the \opencpn in the instruction to delete all files in c:\ProgramData\opencpn
I have edited it in the post above, I hope you don't take the instructions from the email!!!

I will try loading this on an older computer and see what I get with all of the changes.

Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
Good morning JesperWe,
deleted all files last night, did a computer search for OpenCPN and the only item on the computer was in my favorites.
copied a new file and made the changes as described in your emails and in the manual.
copied log:
http://temp-share.com/show/2gFHcwZl8
opened the program and the land is still grey
http://temp-share.com/show/dPf3mq6hW
This morning did a test of downloading NOAA charts of the state of Florida and they look great. I did change the setting in OpenCPN back to the settings as described in the manual. So, at this point I reversed the email of yours changing these..
http://temp-share.com/show/2gFHcwZG8
Is this what the charts showed look like? Possible MY files are corrupt?
Dave

Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
This is still strange to me. BUT!! You had your charts in c:\CM93 before. That is a good location.
Now you have your charts in C:\Program Files (x86)\CM93\
This is a very poor place to put it. Your log shows permission problems.
Could you try going from scratch with a clean install again, make sure you have a good copy of CM93 under c:\ and remove the one under C:\Program Files (x86)\
This is the only thing I can see in your configuration that is not normal.

Re: How to get Leeward and Windward Charts
...and in the end, if your NOAA charts look good but your CM93 still doesn't work, I would suspect you have corrupt CM93 files.
