How do is display AIS from NMEA

I have OpenCPN on the boat PC (Windows 7). Previously I had AIS from an AIS receiver going to the computer via USB to serial converter

I now have a Raymarine AIS transponder. Am I right that the AIS "information" is now within the NMEA information on the network? How do I now display the AIS from the settings since there is no port to set?

Thanks

Maybe. What’s the Raymarine unit, is it NMEA 2000 or 0183? If 2000 you’ll need to convert it to nmea0183 for the pc to see it.

I have an Raymarine AIS650 transponder. There is a seatalk converter to allow communication with legacy instruments but my display is C125 MFD

I am aware that the AIS650 has a usb socket but I think that one cannot connect via usb to a PC and also output to SeaTalk. However if usb connection would work that might be easier

Thanks

The Raymarine is a rebranded Em-trak. The Em-trak has NMEA output on the USB. When installing the drivers from the CD you should get as well an application called proAIS2 for configuring of the device.

Great! I do not know where I got the idea that I could not use USB at the same time
I will set this up in 26 days - when next on board!

It should work as described. But be careful if your PC is plugged into an AC adapter, inverter, or separate DC bank. From what I've read, the AIS650's USB isn't isolated and so you could damage the AIS.
