Sent you a PM with links to KAP charts for two islands in the Solomons.

Is there anywhere we we can share our KAP files? We need a library here on cruisersforum!

Is this what you are looking for?

If you save the file as per your image, can you then drill down to a specific area offline with high resolution?

Re: How do I get large areas of Google Earth images into KAP format?

you can also use squiddio to download a KAP image of any of 20K+ destinations. Just go to the destination page (for instance Point Cruz Yacht Club), and click on the Download Chart link. Make sure you select the level of zoom you want.

Only issue: you can only download KAPs for existing squiddio destinations, but you can easily add the ones you are looking for if they are not in the database. Or just select a lower zoom level from an existing one to include a wider area (though you lose definition). Also don't forget to copy the KAP file from the download directory to your Opencpn chart dir.

The file is a KAP chart with a specific resolution (zoom level in SAS Planet or height in Google Earth) that was used to create it. To obtain a higher resolution is simply to create another chart for the area of interest at a higher zoom level/lower height.

I do this routinely to obtain better detail of such things as harbors, marinas, reefs, shoals, etc.
