How can I buy worldwide S63 format charts?

Hi,

I want to buy come S63 format ENC charts for OpenCPN such as India Ocean and South China Sea from ChartWorld.com. I have bought the S63 plugin from o-charts. Based on what I know, most of the S63 charts are bound with the software. Do I need to contact them to get the S63 ENC for OpenCPN or just directly buy from their website? What else should I do before I buy the S63 format charts?

You can buy directly at Chartworld - or more precisely license at ChartWorld.
License periods are either 3, 6 or 12 months during which you will receive updates for the charts. After this time the charts are still usuable, they will not disappear.

You will need the UserPermit you got already so that Chartworld can issue charts for you.

As always in the case of S-63 the charts are only valid for one type of systems, in our case OpenCPN and it's S-63 plug-in.

For your individual machine/PC you will need an InstallPermit issued at the o-charts site.

We recommend to study the documentation from the o-charts download page, S-63 explained and the How-To video.

We know from people that licensed directly from Admiralty, Primar and AHS (Australia) but in this cases we have no feedback.

Please note that South China Sea charts* are freely available in S-57 format (unencrypted) on the producers' website: scsenc.eahc.asia; you just need to register there (for free). The only inconvenience as compared to S-63 package is that those charts are updated each month but reissued rarely, so you will have to spend some time on initial downloading of each update from 2012 one by one.

* From the East Asia Hydrographic Commission (EA), while ChartWorld sells charts from The Navigation Guarantee Department of The Chinese Navy Headquarters (C1).
