Ann's does not work either.

Two nameservers are not working

Instead of Firefox, I've tried Edge. Same thing.
Have turned off Norton Security. Same problem.
Next going to go after the router and log in and see what I can.
Do others have this problem?

Re: Hmm Can't reach that page...

Rebooted router, got onto it and everything checks out.
Did tracerroute and ping to opencpn.org both failed.

No problem at all from this side of the pond...

BCN thanks
You may have hit the nail on the head....the electrons are frozen.
(Actually, they run faster!) It was down below 0 last night.

No more Opencpn wiki work. I get to go shovel the driveway now.

Except perhaps getting internet connection that works... I see no problem.

Code:

And FWIW I am also monitoring opencpn.org website every 5 minutes together with my own infrastructure and there were no issues today.

Re: Hmm Can't reach that page...

Pavel, Thank you, that is very informative. My internet connection is just fine with the exception of all things that are related to OpenCPN.org (tracker, web & wiki).

My "theory" is as follows:
1. Either Veerotech or my provider is exercising its new rights to throttle and limit my access to opencpn. IE my modem's IP has been added to their XXXX list.
2. Why? Because I executed some php plugin code for the wiki that may have been incompatible with another plugin and all holy hell broke loose, and my screen went blank.

I expect that when I get to Boston it will work because it is a different modem, (also opencpn.org works on our cell phones.). My question is how long will this condition last? Do I have to actually do something about it to get it fixed or will it be "fixed" in time? Because I am going to need it working in about a week.

I think I will call our ISP and ask them to bring up opencpn.org to see if they are having DNS problems with that server.

Also I've used a kind of network tool that visually traces the entire ping, which might be useful to see for opencpn from this modem.

Rick

As a temporary solution you can always try to use a free web proxy.
I often had to do that, to be able to post on this forum, while using AT&T's phone connection.

Re: Hmm Can't reach that page...

Thanks Thomas, I can do that. It eats up minutes on my data plan. I think it is a veerotech nameserver issue. "Missing nameservers reported by parent".
I can ping with success in reasonable time, but tracerroute does not work.
Try intodns.com.

Thanks Gerhard, for reminding me of big brother, but actually Hubert had the most insightful thought, the electrons frozen and thawed today when it hit 40.

Re: Hmm Can't reach that page...

Turning on Norton Virtual Private Network VPN seems to fix the problem!
How nice Norton is useful for something, rather than being a total Pita.
