Help sought building plugin for Mac OSX

I am trying to learn how to build a plugin to install in OpenCPN under Mac OSX. I have been trying for weeks

Going right back to basics and following the Learning section of the developer's guide, I have tried building DR-pi as a minimal starting point. I have managed to build an installer that puts the plugin into the plugins folder within the OpenCPN app, but it does not appear in the list of plugins in the Options panel. Possibly, I have a problem with wx_widgets_wxrc.

Please can SKS with knowledge in this area contact me by PM? I need to share more detail than is appropriate in this forum thread.

I would really appreciate some help.

Antipole ...

If you PM me your email address I would like to get involved. For some time I have been intending to do more stuff with my Mac Mini. This could be good learning material for me as well. 'Blind leading the blind' comes to mind!

To have some exchange of experience for compiling with macOS you should post some more informations.
- Which macOS version you are running?
- Which compiler and version you are running (Xcode, Clang or other)?
- What are your configure attributes compiling which wxWidgets version?
- Have you been able to compile and run OpenCPN and which version?

The OpenCPN log file shows that the plugin is not 'seen' as are the working plugins, even though it is installed in the plugins folder as is the folder in SharedSupport/plugins.

Hope that helps.

Re: Help sought building plugin for Mac OSX

If you don't want to answer my questions I cannot help you.
Sorry have not seen the red text.

Reading now your red text I suggest you first try to compile OpenCPN yourself before you ever try to make or compile any plugin.

Interesting... can you say what your thinking is here? What am I looking out for if I attempt this?

Re: Help sought building plugin for Mac OSX

Almost any plugin needs the wxWidgets libraries. Importand is also the same version of wxWidgets is used for OpenCPN as well as for the plugin. That is the reason why I suggest to start first compiling OpenCPN main code.
