Help! Radar Plugin (V5)

I have a raspberry pi3 running OPenCPN V5.0.0 and the Radar Pi plugin installed (V5.05-ov50). 2 days ago it was working brilliantly with a Garmin HD18.
Now, it wont go from Standby to transmit.
The warm up messages are there when it's turned on. But, No further.
Any suggestions?

It seemed to stop working after I enabled the wifi accesss point. Not sure that's relevant as I've done a re image and it's still not playing ball.

Hardware pin 5 still correct? IP address correct? Garmin radars have strict requirements, see https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/...ation-(Garmin)

Re: Help! Radar Plugin (V5)

If you are sure that you see the warmup messages you are communicating with the radar and the news might be bad: your magnetron may have died. They have a limited lifespan -- 1500 to 3000 hours.

To verify that you receive data from the radar, stop OpenCPN, set VerboseLog=1 (or even more up to 31, 1/2/4/8/16 are "bits" that add up) in the conf/ini file and start OpenCPN. Stop it again and check the log file for records like this:

radar_pi: ProcessReport xxxxxx

radar_pi: 0x02a5: next-state-change <n>

If you do have to buy new we humbly suggest a Navico radar. We are able to support these much better as all the three active developers for the plugin all happen to have a Navico radar.

Re: Help! Radar Plugin (V5)

I checked the source code, and for Garmin HD the actual spoke data comes in on the same channel as the status reports, so if you get radar reports there is nothing wrong with the network setup.

Still, you should probably verify whether it works when you go back to the previous setup.

Thanks for that, but,
Where will I find the conf file?
I've done multiple searches right from root and can't find it anywhere!
I'm pretty sure it's a software issue.

The OpenCPN about dialog shows the full path to your config file.

Hmm! I can't even find the about dialog!
I have however managed to get the radar talking again. Editing the etc/network/interfaces file as mentioned in the older gradar documents gets communications working again at the expense of WiFi connectivity!
I'm no Linux expert. Can anyone tell me where to hand configure the network settings to force eth0 to 172.16.1.1 etc., and still keep wlan0 from ceasing to be available..
The latest download of openplotter does seem to have an issue with dhcpcd.conf access.

T.i.a frustrated in Sicily.

Doh!
Thanks for that.
Coming from a windows background, I looked in top menus, right clicked everywhere and didn't notice that one!
