Help: O-Charts plugin refuses to open O-Charts Shop
Hi everybody!
I have installed Opencpn 5.10.2 Universal in a MacBook Air M3 with Sonoma 14.6. I have installed & enabled the O-Charts plugin & tried to access my account at the O-Charts shop. When I select "refresh chart list" the plugin popout requests my email address and the O-charts' shop password, which I provide. Answer (see screenshot): "wrong password". But it's the same password I use to access the shop website through the browser, and there it works!!!!
I also tried to reistall Opencpn , reinstall the plugin, and also to change the O-charts shop password: no result. (the O-Charts downloader plugin works with the installation I also have on a Windows 10 pc).
What can I do?
PS: I tried with an older Intel Macbook Air (Sonoma 14.0, same version of opencpn, same plugin & password) and there it works

I have also done a clean re-install. Same issue.

Did you reset the credentials in the failing system? Options|plug-ins|o-charts --> Preferences
In order to force to enter the password again. Don't copy&paste.

Hi Dave, I tried to reset as per your advise. The issue persists...
(Glad you are assisting!)

Re: Help: O-Charts plugin refuses to open O-Charts Shop
So what are the differences between those two Macs? Language settings perhaps?
You might want to try a new password, avoiding special characters.
Wiil require to reset credentials in the plug-in again.

Re: Help: O-Charts plugin refuses to open O-Charts Shop
Hi Dave! I also tried to reset the password without special characters, but issue persisted.
The new Mac is (was) simply a per-to-peer wifi clone of the previous one... (the old worked ok with o-charts plugin, though). Before I uninstalled Opencpn (due to our issue) in the new Mac, the language of the app was the same (English) in both systems,. In both Macs the main language is Italian. After the first complete uninstall, Opencpn (in the new Mac) automatically set itself into Italian... without any improvement
The differences between the 2 Macbook are
The OS: Sonoma 14.0 vs Sonoma 14.6
The hardware: 1.1 GHz Intel Core i3 dual core vs Apple M3
Thanks again.

Re: Help: O-Charts plugin refuses to open O-Charts Shop
Things are getting weirder: I tried to follow the offline procedure with my new Macbook, and it did not produce the fingerprint. No .fpr on the desktop and see attached message!
I did the same on the old Macbook and it produced the fingerprint (see attachment).
I am at loss...

Re: Help: O-Charts plugin refuses to open O-Charts Shop
I also tried to follow the path of the old Mac (see previous screenshot: Users/Name/Library/Preferences/opencpn...) ., to see if a .fpr file was created somewhere in the new system ... well: no file, but also no "opencpn" folder in preferences folder... :-(

Re: Help: O-Charts plugin refuses to open O-Charts Shop
Gatekeeper attacking?
You did clone the old system onto the new one?
If you uninstall OCPN and reinstall it? Gets preferences then created?

> I think I have already done it: used CleanMyMac X to completely uninstall Opencpn from my new Macbook and I reinstalled it again (it asked me the setting questions ie unit of measurement)...
it's a real pity if I do not manage to use Opencpn charts, as I bought the M3 Macbook just to have it on board due to it's long battery life...
If it's gatekeeper attacking, is there a way to disable the gatekeeper for Opencpn?

Re: Help: O-Charts plugin refuses to open O-Charts Shop
In the OpenCPN logfile, you will find a line looking like this:
Code:
3:44:25.057 MESSAGE o-charts_pi.cpp:648 Path to oexserverd is: /home/dsr/.local/bin/oexserverd
Please copy the full path of the "oexserverd" file. Then open a CLI window and try to run oexserverd like this, with your full path replaced:
Code:
$ /home/dsr/.local/bin/oexserverd -a
Report results.
