Well, I think that cleanmymac X (which I have used in those instances) entirely removes Opencpn...
When I re installed Opencpn it asked me the questions it usually asks on a clean install (units, etc...)

Hi Dave, it's one of Apple official ways to copy the contents of an old Mac into a new one through its "Migration Assistant" (I only specify itbecause it might be useful to know in the future)

If I were in your shoes, I would start over. Many thousands of Mac users are using various flavors of M silicon without trouble, including with o-charts. Ergo, there is something "different" about this system.
