Help needed: Auto follow wonít

Iím a new OCPN user running Win 10. Iíve been using it for about a month with 4 trips out of the slip. Iíve spent several hours reading the manual and searching the forums. Auto follow wonít. Nor will AIS targets move. I have a Logitech blue tooth mouse and my location as well as the location of any AIS targets will not move or update unless I move the mouse. Furthermore, I must move the mouse off the screen, over a previous track or a target to get it to update. I canít just wiggle it a bit. This goes on for as long as I am out... It will only update if/when I move the mouse. I even tried a corded mouse with no joy. I must be missing something.
I was a fugawi user for many years and have been many thousands of miles so, while not computer savvy, operating nav software is not new to me. Iím completely current on OCPN versions but not willing to download the beta version yet. Still, I canít imagine that would matter in my case. It has to be something simple. Iím not driving blind as I have a Garmin 7616 and Navionics on an iPad. I ditched Fugawi after much frustration and have been marginally impressed with OCPN but will keep on it if I can get over this stumbling block.

Perhaps someone here can set me on the right heading.

Thanks

Re: Help needed: Auto follow wonít

Yes. I am using the same dell computer running updated Win 10, same GPS and same Camino txrx AIS. I unloaded the fugawi Marine5 and installed OCPN.
I can see AIS targets and my own boat. But its like the screen is frozen until I move the mouse, it will then update but act frozen again until I move the mouse again. Everything seems to work fine except neither my boat or AIS targets will move on their own unless I move the cursor as described above.

Would love to noodle this out. Thanks for any help

Re: Help needed: Auto follow wonít

In the NMEA debug window (Options|Communication), do you observe a continuous data stream or does it stall?

Re: Help needed: Auto follow wonít

Not continuous. Maybe 4-5 lines per second then brief pause. Over and over and over.

Thanks

Re: Help needed: Auto follow wonít

Greg,

can you pause the stream and post a screenshot or the stream itself?

Greg...

Odd indeed. I see the "AIVDO" message in your NMEA data stream.

Can you please post your logfile here?
Thanks

Re: Help needed: Auto follow wonít

Greg,

can you make your NMEA log window a bit larger (longer)?
So that we capture a least one complete cycle. Looks that your GPS runs messages at 1hz. In order to check if we see some GLL or GGA message.

Greg...

Pardon me, but I have to ask:
How are you enabling auto-follow?
Can we see a screen shot showing the buttons, etc at the lower right corner?

The NMEA stream looks fine.

Thanks
Dave

Re: Help needed: Auto follow wonít

Sure. In the upper left corner, navigate drop down, auto follow is checked. Lower right corner vessel icon is green. Oops! The photo is upside down. Sorry.

Re: Help needed: Auto follow wonít

I thought it was broken but it wasn't, the way it works has changed. RTFM helps too.
Here is my post from my thread:
Thanks - it wasn't that though. The new version has a feature where if you pan the chart around, the relative position of the boat "sticks". At first I thought it was very annoying, but I can see a use for it sometimes. The oddest thing is the boat snaps back to center when you turn auto-center OFF, which at first was very confusing.
