I appreciate your time and patience, not trying to fool anyone.
I've purchased charts for Australia from O-Charts and am just trying to install them.
The manual seems to tell you what to do when all goes well, but can't see where it tells how to troubleshoot installation issues.

Ok so I installed the plugin again today when I got home before opening Opencpn it said it was installed ( it installs on Mac HD ) but it isn't. Doesn't seem to show in log file either.

Mick,

that looks like the you are running OpenCPN from the installer package: you did not install OpenCPN in "Applications".

From the manual:

OpenCPN is distributed as a Mac ".dmg" file

Download the .dmg file.
Open the dmg file by double-clicking on it - this will mount the dmg as a virtual device and create a mount on your desktop.
Drag the OpenCPN.app icon to the Applications icon in the installer window. This may require the administrator password.
Unmount the dmg by right-clicking on the desktop icon and selecting “Eject”

then just delete it from the Application folder and start over again. Your settings will be getting preserved.
Make sure that you have "ejected" the former dmg "drive" from the side bar.

I know see the plugin, my computer skills are limited as stated but I've learnt a lot in the last 24 hours.
