Re: Help / FAQ
Ivanm..
Yes RS422 would work.
Pins to use are 2,(3) and 5. (3 for out to for example a Auto Pilot)

Re: Help / FAQ
Hi,
I am having trouble getting the mouse-wheel zoom to work correctly on openCPN. When I hover the cursor over a point and zoom in, it does not zoom in to that point. This makes route planning exceptionally difficult: you zoom in to an area of interest, create a few waypoints, eventually getting to the edge of the screen, zoom out with the wheel, place cursor over the next area of interest .. zoom in and it does not zoom to where you want it to. Try dragging the map and it places a new way point.
This behaviour is counter intuitive and significantly different from most other commercial software, across many fields. How do I configure OpenCPN to zoom to the cursor?

Re: Help / FAQ
You go to the Toolbox and enable "Zoom to Cursor" on the Display->General tab (The first one you see)

Ah yes, right in front of my eyes! I was looking in the "User Interface" section rather than the display section. Perhaps moving it (or duplicating it?) might make sense as it is more of a UI thing than a display thing?
Either way, thats much better, thanks!

Re: Help / FAQ
Still getting annoying greyed out rectangles across the globe. 1 covering from Mexico down to Colombia which is most relevant to me. But when I zoom in, Open cpn either crashes or displays the underlying charts...one never knows what its gonna do!
Later-uninstalled then re-installed which apparently has stopped the crashes !

Re: Help / FAQ
Help....
Ive lost access to two pop-ups. Watchdog and the AIS Alert. When a vessel meets the alert criteria, the audible alarm rings but the pop up which includes the acknowledge button does not. The other AIS pop ups work fine...ie target query and AIS target list accessed from the right click menu.
While looking for the problem, the only other clue I noticed was that the Watchdog window does not pop up either. There is a screen flicker when the watchdog button is pushed.
I search around the screen in various ways to see if they were hidden under another pop-up window and experimented with the display size options under Tools - Display - Advanced. Trying both automatic and used defined options to no avail.
All other screen pop up windows seem to be fine!
Any ideas, solutions would be much appreciated.

Re: Help / FAQ
Billy, others will probably have better ideas, but...
It's possible that the popup is mostly off the screen, with only a tiny bit of it visible. Try looking very carefully around the edge of the screen. Also, if you've recently changed your screen resolution, strange things can happen. Try going back to a higher resolution & you may find the popup. Then you can move it to the center of the display & go back to the lower resolution (if that's what you want).
Finally, if you go to the C:\ProgramData\opencpn folder (& ProgramData is a hidden folder) & open the OpenCPN.ini file in a text editor like Notepad, then search for that popup & adjust the position where it opens. This part would benefit from someone who knows better what the entry is called & what to adjust the values to, but search for the name of the popup. Note that Apple & Unix computers have that INI file in a different location.

Windows 10 and Celestial Nav plugin
Hi installed the Celestial Nav plugin that does NOT work with Windows 10. Now every time I go into the Plugin Tab, I get an error message saying that the plugin doesn't work with my version of Windows.
The plugin does not appear in the list though, so I can't disabled it. Is there a way to get rid of it so that I don't get an error message each time I go into the Plugin tab?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, simply uninstall it.

Click on the Start menu, launch Windows Control Panel, go to Add/Remove Programs, Select the plugin, uninstall.
