Re: Help / FAQ

The link:
Help / FAQ - Page 73 - Cruisers & Sailing Forums
has been misplaced in my Email alert. It should go to Open CPN media.
Can not respond.

Re: Help / FAQ

I am looking for an electronic ships log.

Surely i don't have to resort to pen and paper in this day do I?

I need two separate logs.

One for passage making. Exact location, sea and crew conditions etc.

One for daily blog to record what we did for the day. especially when not on passage.

Re: Help / FAQ

If you use any navigation program like Open CPN hooked to GPS you will get automatic log of your position and time in form of GPX. Anything else it suppose to be written to the log book of the vessel is up to the skipper. By ways of all navigation since humans navigated seas was written into the log book. Anything like weather can be logged via GRIB or like wise from internet independent of simple navigation tools. If you can spent $$$ for fleet tools they can note many things including how much tonnage you carry. Otherwise you can daily mark your positions (by hand) and make notes of your interest on Open CPN and all other programs do that. Cheers

Billboy...
Have you checked the OCPN plugin "Logbook Konni"? It may serve your needs.
Logbook | Official OpenCPN Homepage
PlugIns for OpenCPN 4.2 | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Re: Help / FAQ

From where did you download the OpenCPN install? What operating system are you using?

Kiwisailor2016...
Your download is obviously corrupted. Simply delete it and download again.

Re: Help / FAQ

I am having the same issue. Looks like the install file is not good.

I checked on the SourceForge site and there is no 4.2.0 version for Windows.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/opencpn/files/opencpn/ says:
"Looking for the latest version? Download opencpn_4.0.0_setup.exe (28.9 MB)"

Cheers

Re: Help / FAQ

Martin...
There are more than 100000 installations of OpenCPN 4.2.0 at this moment, believe me, we would know the installer is "not good" by now...
We are not using Sourceforge for downloads anymore.

Sometimes a local virus will try to "attach" itself to a downloaded .exe file as a way of tricking the user into giving it a higher privilege level accorded to installers. Have you run a good virus and malware checker lately?

I just downloaded the file from here:

http://opencpn.navnux.org/4.2.0/opencpn_4.2.0_setup.exe

It worked perfectly on Windows 10 so the problem is not the installer file. It is something local to you I suspect.
