tugandbarge...
There's no options to adjust it in OCPN*.

First you've to mount the device so it's in line with the boat's heading line.
Then calibrate the compass to adjust for deviation. See the installation manual for how to. If you scraped that look for example here: https://www.manualowl.com/m/Lowrance.../Manual/412442

*) You can adjust any NMEA0183 incoming data using the plugin "NMEAConverter" but that's not very convenient to have another program adjusting for a not accurate installation.

Re: heading correction

Thank You Haken- I have tried the unplugging and plugging in and then do round turns but I dont believe it is getting into auto calibration mode. Lowrance support cannot help because it is not the intended use of the antenna to use with a PC. The GPS is perfect. I have ordered a fiberglass mount to get the lowrance 20" away from a steel handrail so that may help, but it is worthless as is....any ideas i will certainly love to try otherwise this was about a $500 failed experiment!

Re: heading correction

It's rather basic, but have you tried rotating the antenna ~50* on the mount? If it's a magnetic sensor that might be the adjustment you need.

Yes, it's normal not a good idea to mount a magnetic compass close any iron. Even if it's called "stainless" some of these are not free of impact and may be called "somewhat corrosion-resistant" instead. To get it well away from the rail seems like a good idea.
