[Not yet uploaded in grb format, but hopefully coming]
There is a notice that this will be available only for a limited time, so perhaps it is time for grib_pi to be updated to include grb2 format?

It seems that the GRIB1 folder is no longer accessible....

George64..
The Hamburg based providers of the European stream data in .grib1 format have advised me the data will be available next week as they have been otherwise engaged with the German election.

Re: Harmonic Data UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands
I am pleased to advice that European Stream data is now also available in the old .grib format (.grib1) parallel with .grib2 until the major navigation programs have time to upgrade to the new format. Thanks to Kai at Operational Model System of the BSH in Hamburg:
ftp://ftp.bsh.de/Stroemungsvorhersagen/grib1/

Re: Harmonic Data UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands
Please note you have to re-name the .grb1 to .grb

Re: Harmonic Data UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands
oxygen 77..
They claim that it works with the latest STABLE version of OpenCPN but I agree, can not make it work in v. 3.3.814 OR in qtVlm.
qtVlm promises their Route Optimizer software will VERY shortly be compatible with .grb2 and hope OpenCPN will also follow with the grib plugin.
Apparently the problem is the difference in timing units.

It won't open un qtvlm neither grib1 not grib2.
For me the problem is in the data representation itself not in the timestamp of rachat Record.
Looks like not all points have data and the density is too low for qtvlm to display it

Re: Harmonic Data UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands
oxygen77..
Although I must admit I doŽnt understand all the technicalities of it,here is KaiŽs explanation:
Quote:
Tore,
As I mentioned in an earlier post, the two files are different in terms of time of forecast:
Grib format has a dedicated time field called reference time in the Product Definition Section octets 13-17. Further there is in octet 18 a forecast time unit defined (ie. Year or month… or minute) in octets 19 and 20 there is a timeinterval defined in units of octet 18 .
The old format has octets 13-17 step up by 30 minutes for each forecast timestep, i.e first U and V records have date00:30, Second have date01:00 …
The new format has for the whole file octets 13-17 be constant date00:00 and increment octets 19 and 20 such that each pair (U,V) has an additional 30 minutes time stamp.
This can explain the fact that the routing program does not accept the new format ( I found a Grib Package from a Science Institution which can not handle the minutes time inteval either).
Regards
Kai
