GPS Receiver for a Macbook Pro

I was wondering if anybody has any experience with finding a good GPS receiver for a Macbook Pro. I was thinking that I may try a Globalsat BU-353. I've heard that they work well and I think that they are compatible. I'm not even sure if I would be able to tie my Mac into the Standard Horizon chart plotter I have but besides, I like the idea of having redundant systems.

I do use a Bluetooth GPS mouse from RoyalTek with MacBookPro but for historical reasons since this device was found in my tool box.
Benefits: It does not need any drivers and can be placed anywhere.
Cons: Its battery needs to be recharged from time to time.

Is the royaltek weatherproof? If not, how do you find the reception inside the cabin? And is it a special battery? I wouldn't be opposed to carrying a box of spare batteries on board, it would be a small sacrifice for the versatility of being wireless. I guess I would have to charge the Macbook from time to time so it wouldn't be too big a deal.

As I wrote this unit comes out of my tool box with old computer parts. It once belongs to a pocketpc car navigation system which I didn't use anymore. So the GPS mouse has a 12V charger and I got also a 5 meter antenna extension for it. So this antenna extension is waterproof for placing it outside of the cabin although if you do not have an iron boat it works perfectly inside the cabin too.
