Google Earth plugin does not work Version 5.2

OpenCPN does not provide any integration with Google Earth.

There are tools to produce MBTiles, OpenCPN is not such a tool.

OpenCPN is one of many tools able to view MBTiles.

Creation of MBTiles is out of scope of OpenCPN or it's documentation so the subject is covered only very briefly in the OpenCPN manual at https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...charts:mbtiles The manual is a community effort, same as OpenCPN itself, so you are more than welcome to make that content better based on your now vast knowledge on the subject.

The piece you guys are missing, is that coming to this without any knowledge of the history of development, a new user has no idea what to type into the search engine!

What are all these? which ones do I need? how to interface with OpenCPN

It takes hours to figure this all out. I wasted 4 hrs crawling in internet bilges looking for old versions of GE cos I read on one out of date forum "must use a version before 7.1"

Its frustrating.
You need a brief explanation on YOUR GE plugin page. Just deleting the page really doesnt help!

I read this thread before said wild goose chase. Hopefully the next person will save the 4hrs I wasted by reading these links

I may be missunderstanding you here,all the pages in the manual have both the timestamp of the last update on them and the complete history of edits available at a single click. What exactly are you complaining about?

That logic conveniently omits the history I spent hours wading through to understand the current status of GE and OpenCPN, and how to deal with the changes to GE by Google.

As I began by saying, we are grateful for the work you guys do, and this is not meant to be "complaining". Think of it more as constructive criticism and feedback to help you make a better product

You didn't need to do that as there's plenty of information on this forum about the GE plugin no longer working due to Google restrictions.
