Johan,

Thanks, window position and remembering com port settings are definitely on my todo list for MMG. Also, MMG should auto-detect if VSPE is installed on 32 bit systems and install it for you. You had to manually install it?

Another friendly reminder, this is a beta, so there may be issues to address. And I would appreciate any input.

todo:
find a method to share gps with OpenCPN on 64bit Windows systems
include lcd font in installer
remember com port sharing settings each launch
remember kml output setting
remember window position
run in tray option
launch on windows startup option

Will

Hi Will
thanks for your answers,
Yes I know its a beta so dont worry.....
When I started mmsg for the first time a messagebox saying something like "vspe api is missing do you want to get it?"
if I hit yes I was sent to vspes home page were the download of vspe is. The thing is that I already had vspe installed, probably a older version. (Version: 0.936.4.687).
So I manually run the installation in your directory as I wrote in the first post.
hope this is to some help.

Did you ever do any more on the gps compass idea. Maybe as an add on to your arduino magnetic compass. I would love a Furuno SC 30 but the $ will mean it never happens

Re: Gippy-ai-ai . . .

Hi Mike. I haven't worked much on the project since my purchase of a Hemisphere v102. I think you probably could create a decent sat-compass with 2 gps antennas placed far enough apart. But, I haven't tested the theory enough. Feel free to check out the source code: https://github.com/manimaul/PySat_Compass

Re: Gippy-ai-ai . . .

Too many years since my coding days and too busy building the boat to get back into it. Maybe when i am anchored somewhere nice and quiet. If the Hemisphere was 1k I would have one but over 2 is a bit rich for my blood.

Re: Gippy-ai-ai . . .

I have looked at everything in the thread and nobody seems to have my problem. Gippy works fine with my BU-353 until I open Open CPN. When Open CPN is running Gippy says GPS No Data in the Status window. I know the BU-353 is still working because I can see the data stream using the Open CPN "Show GPS/NMEA data stream window." I can get Gippy to start again by opening settings and clicking apply but it only stays on for a few seconds then quits again. Whassup??

Re: Gippy-ai-ai . . .

Are you on Windows or Linux? Basically you can't connect two programs to the same COM port like this. That's why MMG (Gippy) has the Output tab in the settings - you can tell it to replicate the NMEA stream to virtual COM port and then connect OpenCPN or other application to it.

Re: Gippy-ai-ai . . .

Thanks Nohal. I already fixed it in just the way you indicated. It was quite clearly explained in the Open CPN Manual which I, of course, didn't read until I had posted my question.
