Re: Feature Requests

I would like to see different colors for the active route and the heading indicator. Or make the active route blinking.

Thx.

You have the MOB location, why not just steer for it?

Re: Feature Requests

I also use the MOB function to note where I dropped the anchor, as it is far easier than creating waypoint, setting it as an anchor alarm, then steering to the waypoint. Single tap.

Re: Feature Requests

Maybe you should be using the built in Anchor Watch?

Re: Feature Requests

The built in anchor watch is good for alerting if you leave your anchor circle, but it doesn't give bearing and distance to anchor.

Re: Feature Requests

I don't understand?
You have lost your anchor and want to find it back?
It was lost with the chain also?
I suggest to hire a diver for seaching.

Re: Feature Requests

I suppose you could just use Navigate boat to here?

Maybe that should be added too?
If that is done it would also make sense to add that to MOB to.

However there is definitely an advantage to keeping it simple.

Very funny Carcode, but maybe he has a point?
Although just hovering the curssor over the Anchor should give you useful information too.

Re: Feature Requests

One question concerning tides:- does this way of layout works beyond the 31st of december 2037. That seems to be the future 2000 next “millennium bug”.

Its actually 03:14:07 UTC on 19 January 2038
But I don't think most of us will have to worry and I'm sure we will be all on 64 bit computers anyway.

Re: Feature Requests

After changing the date of the computer, I saw that it does pass the 31st of december 2037 if the node factors and arguments are in the file. When someone build a program it is better to check it for upcoming times.
Regards.

Re: Feature Requests

The new Furuno satellite compasses, the SX20 and SX21, will give data on SOG in three axes (for which there are N2K PGN's; don't know about 0183). The new Airmar DX900+ gives data on STW in two axes, and reads off leeway directly (again, there is an N2K PGN for "nautical leeway"; don't know about 0183). Santa Claus is bringing one of each of these devices to my lucky boat, who has been a very good girl this year.

If this data is reasonably accurate, then combining it will allow you to directly compute set and drift (subtract water referenced motion from ground referenced motion), which will be hugely useful for those of us who sail in strongly tidal waters.

Any chance we could add an instrument to the Dashboard which could do this? I would think it would be pretty simple to program.

And can we get this data into O? I know O doesn't speak N2K; are there 0183 sentences which the PGN's can be translated into? Or can we use SignalK?

Grib and Weather_routing plugin support for
and
for better weather routings, including a Routing "Cone of Probability".

Dockhead, I think you should also ask Petri [Canne] if this can be included in the development v2.0 of DashT. I think is also appropriate for that flavor, since it uses signalK and is quite advanced. See Dash_T
and Petri's Wiki here

Here is his Calculate Leeway, it would be interesting to compare actual set and drift with calculated.

You could PM him too.
