Re: Ethernet AIS and radar into OpenCPN

Pavel, Daurin
Win10, today's build.

I can't get the pcap Furuno_FA50...... to work on port 10021/10033.
Although I can catch the traffic by Wireshark nothing in OCPN. Any quick hints before my further digging?
(EnableUDPNullHeader=1)

Thanks
Håkan

You need something that is able to replay the UDP broadcast packets correctly. I use udpreplay on Linux and macOS, don’t know if it builds/runs on Windows. The “standard” tcpreplay does not work in this scenario. Wireshark is a special case as it uses the interface in promiscuous mode.

Re: Ethernet AIS and radar into OpenCPN

Pavel..
Now it works fine!!

Standard Tcpreplay works fine on a RPi to replay the pcap.
What I'd to do was to give the Win10 network card Ipv4 properties a static address: 172.31.24.100 mask 255.255.0.0

Then in OCPN 0.0.0.0:10021 as usual.

AIS targets, AIVDO and GGA, VTG, ZDA are there all of them.

The udpreplay looks nice but I've to get some useful headers for Windows to build it. (Any quick tips?? )

Thanks
Håkan

No, probably building it with GCC under mingw would be easier than trying to fix it for VS

Re: Ethernet AIS and radar into OpenCPN

Pavel..
OK, let's see if it worth it. A RPi, tcpreplay and twisted cable works fine as well.
That's how I test radar_pi but then the net card static address is not needed. The radar_pi search around until it finds a proper port.

Re: Ethernet AIS and radar into OpenCPN

A Furuno vx2 Radar it will NOT work with the Navico Radar plug-in. So you can forget about that.

A “generic” Radar plug-in is being developed but no developer with Furuno has come forward, and our experience with integrating Garmin has showed that it is just not feasible to add a radar based only on a list of pcap files, or at least, we don’t have the patience. So support for Furuno will not be coming unless someone with enough development skills to compile the plug-in, change basic C++ code, and lots of time to fiddle with pcap analysis and trying out commands to manipulate the Radar, steps forward.
