ENC charts for OpenCPN

Hi to all

I am no digital skilled user and my patience with all this is due to my ADHS pretty limited.

I am about to cross the Atlantic towards Grenada, Aruba with final destination Columbia. The target is to approach Columbia at Riohacha and further on Cartagena de Indias.

I found from the hydrografical Institue of Columbia some charts. They are in format "Direct ENC S-63".

Who can tell me, if this format is compatible with OpenCPN?

It is, using the S-63 plugin and user permit from o-charts.org.
Be aware that the S-63 cells are pretty expensive. Buy your license for the shortest possible update period of time (3 months) to keep the price somewhat under control - the charts stay visible even when the licensed period is expired, you just don't get further updates and the plugin shows a mandatory warning on screen.

At o-charts.org, the chart outlet of OpenCPN for OpenCPN, you will find chart sets covering good par of your journey. Those sets are quite less expensive than the Official S-63 cells. For Colombia you will need to license those however. As Nohal said: select the charts you really need and license for the minimum operiod of hree months at Chartworld for example. Charts will stay after the end of the licensing period, just no updates anymore.
