Downloading Charts onto Open CPN

O only shows ovals that have a scale that matches your current zoom level. Probably the other charts are more detailed. If you zoom in further it should show more green ovals for the more detailed charts.

can you attach your OpenCPN log file?

Under /Programdata/OpenCPN.
Rename it to .doc in order to be able to upload it.

G'day Hubert.

I'm afraid I was unable to upload the log file. I tried several formats but kept getting too big or invalid format messages. Sorry.

It seems starnge that OpenCPN was working 1 night & not the next day. It appears all the charts are there so I'm hoping it's just a simple mistake on my part ?

Other options:

- run rebuild chart data base
- install the keys and charts gain and rebuild chart data base

This has to have simple solution

Brian, rename the log file as .doc. You can also zip the file and add .pdf to the end. CF will accept .doc and .pdf files.

I've tried changing format & zipping - same messages - invalid file or too big. I'm heading away on the delivery trip I wanted OpenCPN for in a week - getting very close to time to cut my losses & give up, almost 2 weeks & it is still unusable. I'll try reloading keys & chart data base tonight as bcn suggested but I have spent so many hours on OpenCPN I reall y am getting close to cutting my losses & trying something else.

I tried re-importing chart cells & keys/permits and doing a database rebuild. Nothing I'm afraid, I still only have 4 charts showing.

I've just e-mailed 3 files as you asked, pretty sure I got the correct files.

I have a horrible gut feeling my problem is something simple/stupid I've done or not done ? If I have to eat a great big humble pie soon then I will.

this does not make sense to me:

1:23:03 PM:   Chart directory #0: C:\Users\Brian\Documents\Charts\permits\ENC_ROOT
1:23:03 PM:   Chart directory #1: C:\ProgramData\opencpn\s63\s63charts\AU

In the case of S-63 you must not create any manual entry in the chart directories.
Installing the charts will create an entry automatically in the format of your second entry
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\s63\s63charts\AU
where AU is the chart distributor. Chartworld charts will appear under \49 for example.

Please remove your first chart directory from Options|Charts Files.
Try then a rebuild of the data base.

If this does not change the outcome, then remove the second one as well, delete the
\AU folder from C:\ProgramData\opencpn\s63\s63charts\AU and install the charts again.
The cell permits shall be there and stable.

So, next round....

Yes, the cell permits appeared to be there & stable.

I tried installing the charts again but it didn't appear to do anything. But there was no directory in Chart Files Directories, it didn't appear to create the entry automatically ... so I copied the AU folder to C:\ProgramData\opencpn\s63\s63charts & added the directory manually ... just to see what happened ? Bugger all ! Please note I am trying to download charts from
C:\Users\Brian\Documents\Charts\permits\ENC_ROOT, is this correct ? It's the only location I can find ENC_ROOT\AU.

Are we getting closer ... can only imagine how sick of me you are ? ! LOL
