I don't think we can tell from the colour of the wires so you will have to specify the make and the model

No those small wires are only for an external alarm and a back light. It's a Moor instrument. http://www.moorelectronics.com/product_manuals.html

Do you want just a transducer that can talk to opencpn or a depth instrument that can talk to opencpn. For the latter you can probably use your existing transducer. It should have some details on a label near the transducer. See if you can find that and report back. Also where in the world are you?

Basically I’m looking to get the transducer to talk to opencpn, just be able to use opencpn with the same transponder, I have a pi4 on that German breakout board

Here’s what I got document wise, as for my location it was on the hard when I took that photo and got flipped on my acident

I meant where in the world are you? Your location impacts product recommendations

OK so you have 210kHz transponder. Look for an instrument that uses the same frequency and has an NMEA output. All manufacturers will make something.

There is no information about the power of the transducer unfortunately but not much given it's range. Or its dimensions so difficult to recommend one that will fit the hole.

By the way you need to clean the face of the transducer, it shouldn't be painted.

It will probably be easier for you to buy a transducer with a NMEA 0183 output and fit that. a 0183 to USB converter. But I would always fit an instrument to read only depth - it's quite important

Something like this would do what you want.
Airmar DT800

and this will ensure good integration

NMEA 0183 to USB

Would I still need a USB adapter with that board?

Does it have nmea 0183 (RS422) inputs? If so; no you won't need the converter.

It has 6 NEMA, some digital and some ďone lineĒ whatever that means?

There you go then just chuck in a transducer that outputs nmea data and you are good. But please as a safety consideration keep your existing display.

Re: Depth sounder and openCPN

If you can find a Standard Horizon DS41, it will fit in that same hole, looks about the same, and has NMEA out. I am feeding my chartplotter with it and OpenCPN can read it just fine too.
