Cursor Jump and options 4.2 not working
Hi Everybody,,,, I am working with Version 4,0 at the moment,, I tried 4,2 but the Options panel does not open,, ?? Anybody ??,,, Also when I use the laptop onboard with my Comar ais,, I have my cursor jumping all over the screen,, a reaction from the data signal I am sure as when I switch the ais off ,all returns to normal,, and although I can see the data signal is working ok with the Pro Ais program that came with the Ais,, Open CPN can not find or can not connect to the data stream,, ?? ,, I am using a Panasonic toughbook CF-30 with windows 10 and my input is via the serial com,, Anybody ?? ThanX

Re: Cursor Jump and options 4.2 not working
It is due to USB confusion probably. You may have to clean up your usb. I can give you some links for that later.

Re: Cursor Jump and options 4.2 not working
Cursor jumping around is common with Toughbooks.
NotebookReview Panasonic forum has lots of info on this and other stuff if it's your first unit.
Lots of useful info on the forum, especially regarding drivers - can be a serious pita with Toughbooks.
They'll ask for your full model number on the forum if you ask for advice - you don't need to worry about providing that and the bios version etc.
The onboard GPS is usually the cause of the jumping cursor. Temporarily disable GPS in the bios first, see if that stops it.
Check the baud rate.
The onboard GPS on a CF-30 isn't really much good. If that's what you're using a usb Sirf 4 for example is a huge improvement and avoids the issue.
There's a registry patch (fidmou, fidmous IIRC?) for the gps jumping mouse issue. Lives in util2 if it's there waiting to be installed. Been a long time, look it up on the forum.
Panasonic Japan usually best for driver downloads.
Haven't had a problem with AIS myself but you might need to change the serial port settings in the bios.
W10 can be a bit of a stretch for CF-30's especially Mk.1 & 2's.
Tried it on CF-19/1, CF-19/5, CF-29, CF-52 but don't use it on any of them because it's *****. Boots a little quicker but slower to use & just hideous ugly.
Good luck

keithsytara...
AIS baudrate usually is 38400, not 4800. Make sure you are not trying to use ProAIS and OpenCPN at the same time, only one program can use the serial port at any given moment and the one started later is not given access to it by Windows.
If you are sure everything is OK, please have a look at your logfile - there should be some more info.
