Corridor / Passageway

Hi

I'm wondering how to create a corridor/passageway in opencpn.
I 've a list of coordinates, which describe the middle-line of the passgeway.

From each coordinate the corridor is 125m width

is there an easy way in opencpn drawing this corridor?

Norbert..
I do think you should have a look at the OCPN Draw plugin and the tool "Parallel Index line"
In the Pluginmanager: Options->Plugins-> ["Update Plugin Catalog master"] and find OCPN Draw. Select it, install and activate. Click the button "Website" and from there the link to the manual. (Maybe here is what you're looking for https://opencpn-manuals.github.io/ma...index_line_pil)

Norbert, some programs create a "corridor", Opencpn basically just uses XTE Cross track error, but as Hakan suggests, you can create a visual corridor using index lines, with are intended for another navigation purpose, but will work.

Re: Corridor / Passageway

thanks for your response

PIL is based on the boat location
but I#m looking for a solutuion of parallel line to a base line created by boundary points or sometine else

finally this corridor should be saved as GPX-file for importing as temporary layer

Re: Corridor / Passageway

eifel ...

Have you looked at the SAR plugin?

If you have a start point and can work out the bearing/distance of each leg you can create a parallel track search, 2 units, only 1 leg needed. The track spacing is 125m converted to NM/2.

You would then need to manually remove the first waypoint from the gpx for each of the two routes.

Repeat for each leg of your corridor. Manually combine the routes for each leg into one gpx file.

eifel...

Problem with the above is that you have to find the mid-point of each leg.

Attached is a tarball for Windows. Remove the .pdf extension and import. The start point is your first coordinate.

Parallel search - two units and track space 125m.

NOT for SAR use!

Re: Corridor / Passageway

The PIL (Parallel Index Line) should do what you want. When drawn it is based on the current position of the boat, however, you can move both the start and end point of the PIL.
  • For the start point just right click the PIL and select 'Pick new start point'

  • For the end point right click the end point and select 'Move PIL Point'
You can create as many PIL objects as needed. You can also have multiple parallel lines (it helps if you move the first line away from the default position). The PIL line can then be centred with a parallel line on each side showing the 'corridor'.

The PIL line has a definite start and end point the parallel lines extend to the edge of the display so they do not have a defined length.

Doing the testing for this I have found an issue with the central PIL line in that when the start point is moved the 'hover over' capability has not moved with it, although it has for the parallel line. I will look into this.

Re: Corridor / Passageway

OD v1.8.12.0 should fix the movement of PIL lines. It is currently going through the build process so should be in the Beta cloudsmith in a few hours.
