Correcting GPX track files

Due to some hardware problems my GPS position randomly bounces around. This is something I can live with for the moment, but it screws up my track file with random positions backwards and forwards along the track, meaning a 10 mile trip is logged as 120 miles on the track, with speeds between points of 125 knots ( I wish).

In an ideal world what I'd like to do is put the gpx file into a spread sheet, sort by speed and delete all the points where the speed is above some arbitrary figure I choose.

Does anyone know of an application to do this easily, otherwise I'll have to use the split function in OpenCPN?

You could process your tracks in situ using a script for the JavaScript plugin.
You could work your way through a track, identify your rogue points by checking the distance between each point, and delete them.
Then update the track. Or, perhaps safer, add a new edited track and later delete the old one.
