The wind instrument works well, so it must be working.
I agree. Sorry i wasnt used to seeing anything other than instruments in the device list, and got thrown by that h5000cpu.

I was hoping to get the radar info over the B&G WiFi, but apparently that type of data doesn’t broadcast well on WiFi.

I have a usb/Ethernet cable for my Mac air, that’s the only reason I was asking. Is there a better way to get radar to OpenCPN?
mrybas..
The general advices about a broadband radar over wifi is that's not a good idea. See more here: https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/...-(Navico)#wifi
I've once seen the GoFree wifi working with a 4G radar but only a short glimpse, not seen it working over time. A wire from the switch to your PC will be secure.

The Furuno DRS-4W radar antenna is made to use wifi but is probably using another data protocol.

Understood.

Can OpenCPN get data from connecting my Mac to H5000 CPU via Ethernet cable?

mrybas..
Probably yes. You may need a switch in between. See more in the software/hardware connections in the wiki linked above.

Re: Connecting to B&G H5000?

I dont know about ethernet to H5000, but I have Navico radar running wireless (and wired) on my boat. Take the ethernet cable from the Radar interfacebox and plug it to a switch. You will either have to buy a B&G one or cut off one end of the cable and crimp on a rj45 plug to use a normal switch. Signal is the same, plug is the only differance. You can then run a ethernet cable from the switch to your PC and probably one to the H5000 if that is any point.
I have no problem using radar wireless on the computer, but I have made sure no old and slow devices is connected to the network.
