I did not. Ended up buying a chartplotter after all. OpenCPN is a great concept for those with enough skill. Unfortunately, not my case.

Did you get any specs from B&G about their depth transducer cable? I would be very inyerested to know what the pin assignments are.

But which transducer do you have? Just the part number off the transducer please.

What depth instrument, if any?

Re: Connecting Old B&G Network Data to OpenCPN

Your transducer cable will only have a shield and a pair of wires. Depth connector is only three pins.. you won't hurt anything by testing all of the wire combinations. Once you have it working make the connections permanent.

Re: Connecting Old B&G Network Data to OpenCPN

The B&G Quad display can't transmit 0183. The manual is here: https://manuals.bandg.com/discontinu...ser_Manual.pdf

The Network Quad Repeater display CAN, however. The most straightforward way to deal with this would be to acquire an old Quad Repeater, if you can find one.

Otherwise, most if not all of those old transducers, both depth and speed, transmit a pulse, which can be interpreted and translated by various available devices, like the Actisense DST or DST-2; see: https://actisense.com/products/dst-2...al-transducer/

This seems to me to be a fair amount of cost and trouble just to preserve some ancient devices. You might consider just upgrading all of it to modern 0183 or N2K transducers, and a modern display. That would be the best approach.

I have an old Actisense DST which I used to use with an old CS4500 ultrasonic speed log. Ping me offline if you want to buy it, but I don't really recommend doing it this way.

Thanks. That is an interesting idea.
I will check if they can connect to my transducer.

I would install a new display but I have a whole faimily of B&G displays for wind and pilot so it is a pain to change all and just changing one would look bad.

I am also looking at of there is any open source Raspberry Pi code O could use to decode the signal.
