Compiling v4.8.6 & v4.99 Win10 same machine

Does anyone know if Visual Studio 17 will install separately without messing up the existing Visual Studio 13 installation?

Will having wxwidgets wxwidgets-3.0.2 and wxwidgets-3.1.1 create issues when compiling? Will the path environment need to be changed appropriately for compiling a specific version of Opencpn?

What other issues am I likely to experience if I try to maintain a v4.8.6 development environment and add one for v4.99?

Thanks.
Rick

Yes, it will.

No, if you know what you are doing. Yes, if you don't.

Not (only, necessarily) the PATH environment variable, but yes, there are things that you need to know and do.

You will probably hit any single one there is and a few that don't exist as a bonus. And you will probably have to ask how to solve every single one of them.
Save yourself and ourselves the trouble and install the other environment in a separate virtual machine, please. Even I do it.

For windows 10 should I use virtualbox? vmware or azure? PS there is also Hyper-V in Win10

It can be done. But you have to carefully set up many environment variables specific to each version of VS. Plus you need different buildwin files as well.

If you can make virtualbox work it is a much better solution.
