Re: Colors and symbols for vector charts

P-Dub,
don't worry, been there myself.
You did not comment on the machine so I still assume it is a Win 10, it looks like that from you picture.

Re: Colors and symbols for vector charts

Finally, now that my system has been fixed (xfce4 GUI reinstalled) it seems to be working ok.
These are my (final?) suggestions on the xml color setup for swedish classic charts. The original BSB/KAP charts has just two depth colors but I've added one between Safety Depth and Deep Depth. The two lesser depths are according to the original.
The contours and land colors are like the original BSB/KAP charts.
Only the section '<color-table name="DAY_BRIGHT">' is affected.

<!-- Land -->
<color name="LANDA" r="255" g="239" b="132"/>
<!-- Roads, city/town contour -->
<color name="LANDF" r="247" g="239" b="206"/>
<!-- Coast line -->
<color name="CSTLN" r="0" g="0" b="0"/>
<!-- Depth values on Deepest and Deep areas -->
<color name="SNDG1" r="7" g="7" b="7"/>
<!-- Depth values on Shallow and Safety Depth areas -->
<color name="SNDG2" r="7" g="7" b="7"/>
<!-- Depth contour for Safety areas -->
<color name="DEPSC" r="125" g="130" b="247"/>
<!-- Depth contour of other areas -->
<color name="DEPCN" r="125" g="130" b="247"/>
<!-- Depth category Deeper than Deep Depth -->
<color name="DEPDW" r="255" g="255" b="255"/>
<!-- Depth category Deep Depth -->
<color name="DEPMD" r="227" g="235" b="255"/>
<!-- Depth category Safety Depth -->
<color name="DEPMS" r="198" g="215" b="255"/>
<!-- Depth category Shallow Depth -->
<color name="DEPVS" r="132" g="158" b="255"/>

Erik, feel free to incorporate this into your git version if acceptable

<color name="LANDA" r="215" g="200" b="122"/>
This is the best land setting for chart S57 color.
Best Regards.

Re: Colors and symbols for vector charts

P-Dub,
using GIMP color picker on an 6142 chart as reference gives exactly the color for LANDA that is suggested in #48 so that is the Swedish classic color.

You are however, of course, free to use any color you like but the color you suggest is far from Swedish classic.
The only 'extension' done in #48 is the intermediate color for DEPMD not in the original color setup.

Re: Colors and symbols for vector charts

The color also depend on the video card adjustment and not only the program set up. Your colors are too yellow for me.
Thanks, good try.

Re: Colors and symbols for vector charts

P-Dub,
boith my measurements are done on the same machine so your comment about video cards is totally irrelevant.As I said before, the specifies colors are according to Swedish classic color setup.

If you don't like them, simply use our own colors but that does not change the standard.
End of discussion.

Lenmark
I am not arguiig with you, I am just giving you a second opinion. Take it or leave it as you wish. My setting correspond better to the CHS raster chart color.
I am not asking anyone to take them. Thanks for your kind understanding.
Regards.
