CMAPECS Heading Indication

New here guys, please be gentle, I am currently having a problem with the heading indicator on the monitor, we seem to have a deviation of the heading indicator on the vessel on screen either when moving or if the vessel it on her moorings, anyone got an idea on how to stop this happening, I have tried most things but this is a problem

What heading indicators are we talking about here? Own boat or AIS targets?

When moored, the GPS value does not indicate a proper position, so the boat just flips around in a silly manner. Is that what you mean?

Hi

Looking at the the boats position on the chart (on screen) the boat is static as is the position of the GPS, however the heading indicator protruding from the vessels location is not steady (on chart).

The line of direction from the curser on the screen moves from port to stbd as much as 180 degrees??

I thinks its a setting int e software, but I cant seem to find it??

A GPS can not know the heading when not moving. Maybe that is the cause?

The GPS does not know your bearing, it calculates it when you're moving. Hence, when you're not moving, it's constantly trying to guesstimate it, hence the jumpiness

My experience is that most GPS units shows your position bouncing around within a roughly 100ft circle, and the unit shows the heading as it goes from place to place within that circle. This happens to me when I am stopped or underway. Of course the heading variations appear to be less as the speed increases and the 100ft errors become less relevant. If your GPS has an averaging feature you should be able to reduce this; mine does not.
