Re: CM93 Problem

Thank you Thomas,

although it was not my goal to fiddle into opencpn.org

There is still a lot of work to be done to have a Mac OS X version.
I will try to update the file of the link you have done now once there are better versions (same name of the link, so you have not to care about).
Actually the versions of this link are optimized for german language because it's my home language, e.g. another german html doc opened by clicking Help when running in german localisided OS only. I will try to make it more international.

Patrick - who was the good soul of this all - is in vacation next days.

Re: CM93 Problem

Hi, request permission to join this discussion.
I am struggling with the same problem, on a snow leopard.
I think I have CM93 v2 files that are corrupt
or incomplete or both. So the first question on which I should be very grateful to get some help is this. After extensive searching on many web pages I came to the conclusion that there is really only one provider.
But since I am having problems, some advice would be very much appreciated. By the way, my OpenCPN is working in most respects,
only I have not yet gotten around to understanding vector charts;
but one problem at a time.

Re: CM93 Problem

Chris,

you will get legal free charts here: Chart Sources | Official OpenCPN Homepage
There are no free legal CM93 charts available.

And some explainations about vector charts are here: Vector Chart Display | Official OpenCPN Homepage

There is also no stable bug free Snow Leopard OpenCPN version available at the moment. For navigation you may use BootCamp with Windows OpenCPN v2.3.1 with a Mac.

Re: CM93 Problem

Hi Guys,

I am one of those who is about to change from Windows to Linux. So my question is: In Windows it was recommended to place all the CM93v2 charts in a special folder on C: What is your recommendation to place these charts in the Linux Ubuntu system?

The other question is: In Windows, for some reason, I had to install MaxSea 10.... before I could use the CM93 charts together with OpenCPN. Does anybody know why that was necessary? The the NOAA Charts, Where to I place them in the Ubuntu system? The S57 charts from the US can they be installed outside the windows environment?

Many thanks beforehand if some computer wizz could help out.

Re: CM93 Problem

Just put them all in an appropriately named folder on your user's home directory, this means the charts are on your hard drive and require no special permissions for access.

Re: CM93 Problem

I use Navigatrix from Navigatrix.net • The First Linux Distribution for Cruisers in a virtual machine. It is a complete Ubuntu system which can be booted also from an USB stick. Everything is predefined, there is also a folder /home/Charts/ already.

Re: CM93 Problem

Thanks Guys, I just want to get it right in the "new to me" Ubuntu system before starting to fiddle around. It shall be exiting to try Navigatrix, especially since one can have the system on a USB stick.
Thanks again
