Re: CM93 Chart detail?

Good morning JesperWe, I unzipped the files to my desktop then copied to the s57 data file and the went into the file without the error. Opened OpenCPN program and still did not have the colors. I then went back to hte email that you sent with the download of files and the Vector Palette manual instructions. Intended to manually change the 5 items in the s57 data file.

Opened the file, highlighted the first number but am unable to change the code. It seems as though nothing is happening. The computer seems to stop functioning when I attempt to change this file.

I then went to the files that I downloaded and they do not match the change that the manual suggests making. Example for LANDA the new downloaded file from your email has "163", "241", "250" same as what is already in the program that I download off fo the internet, not the "255", "224", "183" as in the manual.

Any ideas on how to change the file directly or have a file that I can copy into the OpenCPN program with the correct changes?

Re: CM93 Chart detail?

The file in the installation is write protected. Thats why you can't unzip or edit it. You can change the file on your desktop and copy again into the installation, or you can modify the protection of the installed file. Search the Internet for instructions if you don't know how to do that.

Re: CM93 Chart detail?

Experimenting I tried to change the file that I downloaded and still nothing happens. It behaves the same way the downloaded file does that is in the OpenCPN program. I will search the internet to find the unlock function that you mention. Thanks, Dave

Re: CM93 Chart detail?

I found the permission instructions on the internet and seemed to have changed the different tables, although still nothing happens. I will take the computer to someone local that knows what they are doing to make the changes.

When will the new version of OpenCPN come out that will have this capability already set?
Thanks, Dave Aloisius

Re: CM93 Chart detail?

No, but when stable is out I will provide a patched version. The solution is really a hack that doesn't belong in the supported version.

Re: CM93 Chart detail?

If I download version 3.0.2 or later, will I find the following in the s57chartsymbols.xmldata/ file?

LANDA 255 224 183
NODTA 225 224 222
DEPDW 255 249 245
LANDF 255 200 125
CHBRN 226 192 156

I believ from one of the replys thiat if this was added to that file, I would see the charts with colors, Swedish look.

Re: CM93 Chart detail?

The above example is just the color names an RGB values. The correct syntax for a color in the color map looks like this:

<color name="LANDA" r="201" g="185" b="122"/>

...and so on. See the section on color-tables in Vector Palette | Official OpenCPN Homepage

And yes, that's what it looks like in 3.0.

Re: CM93 Chart detail?

Just ran a test on another computer. Downloaded OpenCPN and set everything the same as on my main computer. Copied the CM93 charts to the new computer and the colors on the charts show up. So, it must be something set on the computer. I will find someone local that might be able to help. Thanks for eveyones help. Dave Aloisius

Re: CM93 Chart detail?

When using cm93 chart somewhere there is a red circle on the chart. When double click on the circle an info message comes up and in this example it is a speed limit of 5 knots. In the BSB chart this info is printed direct on the chart
Is it possible that this info can be displayed without double clicking on the cm93 chart?
All boxes i Mariner Standard are checked and cm93 detail slider is +5.(W7, SP1)

Do you really want the following message from a SINGLE info circle splashed on-screen ?

The answer on that question is no.
My question was about speed limits. Maybe my question was a bit unclear so let me rephrase it

Is it possible that this info /speed limit/can be displayed /on the chart/without double clicking on the cm93 chart /like in the BSB charts/?

Everything is possible in software. In this case, however, it is not practical, since the charts are full of warning messages (CTNARE, Caution Area) and there is no way in the database to tell which one is a speed limit or not. Of course you could start looking at the texts inside CTNARE's and heuristically guess which ones would make sense to display and which ones should require double-click. Not a road we want to take. Guesswork does not belong on nautical charts...
