Re: Climatology

Sean, Paul and Terry,

I will fix this tonight. I am afraid I used the wrong branch which did not have the data files. Very Sorry. I've been traveling too and sometimes inet is not so good, and my brain got disconnected.

Thanks for your patience.

PS: Sean welcome back. Could you look at this thread and give Leamas some insight about how you handle Windows plugin files that need to be writeable by the user?

It would be most beneficial. I am trying to help him, but he needs more programming technical advice I think. Thanks.

Re: Climatology

Thanks, I've tested it and it should be from the correct Master branch now.
I think I will delete the ov50 branch now too to eliminate confusion.
(Not deleted, it has some notes about correcting the download of data for Windows.)

See https://github.com/rgleason/climatol...ag/v1.4.1-ov50 again please. Added a note about date 4/6/2019 and file size now 5,642kb.

The download location and version are not changing.

Sorry about that.

Works nicely. Many thanks.

Re: Climatology

Windows ov50 version of Climatology has been updated and incremented, based on two fixes by Didier. See the downloads page.

Re: Climatology window position

The Climatology window is displayed overlapping the Main Toolbar and causes the Toolbar name to be overlapped on the Climatology window.

This requires moving the Climatology window away from the Main Toolbar to click on it.

Re: Climatology

Just downloaded the climatology app for windows. Running OpenCPN v4.6 on Win10. Everything seems to work EXCEPT that Cyclone tracks are not showing up. Any thoughts on why that might be?

Re: Climatology

This might be a missing or bad data problem. You can try reinstalling, or try to download the data only from opencpm sourceforge. See if that link is in the plugin wiki.

Re: Climatology

Thanks for the reply. Reinstalled with no luck. Looked at the location for the data files and I see 6 cyclone files of varying sizes, so they seem to be OK. This plugin is working fine on my other laptop which is Win7, but not this Win10 one. I've tried it with both the OpenGL box checked and unchecked, doesn't seem to make a difference.

I'd use the other laptop, but the problem is that the other laptop is down for the count with a broken fan, so it immediately overheats. No chance to get a new fan as the entire country we are currently in (Sri Lanka) is on total lockdown with 24 hr curfew.

Re: Climatology

Remove the entire plugin and all data.

Remove C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\climatology
Remove C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 4.8.8\plugins\climatology_pi.dll
Remove C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 4.8.8\plugins\climatology_pi

Reboot, Reinstall.

If that does not work try downloading the data and installing it into the data directories. The data is here

Re: Climatology

Deleted all the old files and directories. Rebooted and reinstalled. On running the plugin for the first time it provided a message box stating along the lines of "Some data failed to load. Would you like to download now?" I clicked yes and a box popped up but I couldn't see what file it was looking for before the box went away. It closed without an error, so it seems like it may have found the material it was looking for? However, the cyclone tracks still fail to load.

The data files seem ok. There are 6 cyclone files corresponding to different regions. What data resides in the "Program Data/Open CPN/... climatology_pi/data"? I only have a single file: "elnino_years.txt".

Thanks for the help so far!

Re: Climatology

Ok, good, you have the right file, you've found where you download the data. What are the files its permissions? Do you have antivirus? Try turning it off. I've run out of ideas here.

Re: Climatology

The permissions are the same as the rest of the files. Antivirus has no effect. I can see the wind roses and the current arrows (when enabled with the check box), just not the cyclone data. Really odd. The "data" sub-directory has 44 files in it. Is this the correct number or is something missing?

Re: Climatology

Ahhh... might be getting somewhere here. The ONLY file I have in the "Program data" sub-directory (the one you screen shotted above) is "elnino_years.txt". I do not have all the .gz files. But this is what I have in the "Program Files (x86)" directory: Where does the plugin pull it's data from? The Program Data directory or the Program Files (x86) directory? Sorry that I seem to be the only one having this issue!
