Chart Quilting not working for me

I'm sure I don't have some advanced setting toggled correctly, but this is happening on two different computers, one running 4.8.0 and the other running 4.8.2. I have not experienced this problem on my home laptop, which is still running 4.4.2.

Here is my issue. I have the chart quilting enabled. When I am moving around on a chart (either to just look at the chart for tomorrow, or when creating a route), I get to the edge of a chart (or the edge of a panel on a chart), and the next chart (or panel) has no details - no markers, the lines delineating land masses get blurry, etc. I can recapture the detail by manually selecting a chart from the list at the bottom of the screen, but this gets tedious. It also causes problems when the cursor is the pencil used to drop waypoints along a route.

What am I doing wrong?

Raster or Vector charts?

What happens if you play with the settings (sliders) at Options|Display|Advanced for details when zooming in? Going on "+" side will show more details earlier, i.e. a more "aggressive" quilting.

Screenshots would be helpful too.

Raster charts (the ones that are just copies of NOAA paper charts). Will attempt a screen shot after playing with the settings you mentioned.

Re: Chart Quilting not working for me

More info. I am specifically working with chart number 11428, in the area of Ft. Myers FL. In moving up the Caloosahatchie River towards Lake Okeechobee, there is a point on the paper chart where a human would look at a different part of the printed page. OpenCPN is not handling this transition. In the chart directory, 11428 is divided into several subfiles, and in my specific example today, the program does not want to quilt from chart 11428.5 to 11428.6. I have to manually click on the next "chart" on the chart bar to get the rest of the chart on the screen with any detail.

Changing the settings you mentioned had no effect.

Re: Chart Quilting not working for me

SFS,

Looking at your screenshot. I see that you have OpenGL turned off. OpenCPN needs to have OpenGL enabled in order to quilt skewed raster charts.

Use Options (Wrench tool) > Display > Advanced and check the box near the bottom of the window that is labeled "Graphics" and "Use Accelerated Graphics (OpenGL)". This setting will enable the quilting of skewed raster charts.

Paul, thanks for this. I will give it a try tomorrow on both computers and report back.
