Chart plotter MFDs Compatibility

Hello,

I'm curious of what recent make and model chart plotter MFDs are compatible with route transfer from Opencpn? I'm interested in Ray Marine but a list of any make and model would be great! Thanks!

Mike

not over the wire. Sneakernet works - ie copy the export the route to a gpx file, copy to an SD card, put that in the mfd....

Re: Chart plotter MFDs Compatibility

For Windows my oBabel plugin works fine with the Garmin GPSMap 4010 using NMEA 0183. Need to install GPSBabel to work alongside the plugin.

GPSBabel and EasyGPS can both be used standalone, in a two-step process. Make the GPX in OpenCPN, use the helper program to make the transfer.

For EasyGPS I had to use the Garmin GPS 72 option as the 4010 was not listed. There are a large number of different GPS options to choose from.

EasyGPS is easier to set up than GPSBabel.

Re: Chart plotter MFDs Compatibility

yeah, several GPS units are supported directly - like the Furuno GP3X units. Route and waypoint transfer direct from opencpn, without additional software. :-) No MFD's that I know of though.... :-(

Re: Chart plotter MFDs Compatibility

I have a BU-353 S4 GPS, also a dAISy receiver with NMEA 0183 adaptor.
