Chart formats In OpenCPN

Hello!

I've been using SeaClear on my laptop for years and have acquired quite a nice collection of charts. I have scanned a lot of these charts myself and calibrated with MapCal, and therefore more than half of the charts I have are in .WCI format.

Now I would like to try navigating with my android phone instead, so I don't always have to take my laptop with me. I have found a version of OpenCPN for free on Google play store, but unfortunately it doesn't support the .WCI format of charts.

Is there an easy way to mass convert WCI to BSB/KAP? Or better yet, do you guys know of any navigation app for android that can use WCI charts natively? If this is not possible and it means I will have to buy new charts, I will forget it and use my laptop as usual.

Thanks in advance!

How about John Thorn's MAP22MAPC program? The Batchbuilder option could be what you need.

I hope you are aware that the 'free' Android version is not supported and is not updated.

Terry and Mike give good advice. Also search on seaclear in the wiki manual and you will find more info about wci and seaclear charts under FAQ

Re: Chart formats In OpenCPN

I realized the opencpn app on play store was not as reliable as I had thought. But thanks to the mapc2mapc application I managed to convert my wci charts to a format supported by oruxmaps and was out navigating last weekend with no problems! Thanks for your advice!
