Changing chart resets zoom

Not sure if this is V5 or not, but don't think it used to do this..

So as an example, zoomed out to half the atlantic at say 1:9mm zoom looking at a north atlantic pilot chart, click on another chart on the piano roll or ctrl right arrow to see the next month, next chart gets displayed but it's zoomed in to 1:3mm. Is there menu setting to keep the zoomed area the same? Bit annoying with the likes of pilot charts or tidal charts made into kaps.

So is the chart resetting zoom when changing charts a new thing? Should an option to keep the existing zoom go in flyspray or is it hidden away in a menu somewhere?

In 4.8.8 there was an option "Preserve scale when switching charts".
This option is gone in 4.99 + as this option is default.
So O preserves scale (within limits) but not zoom. Testing this with Pilot Charts for NA an other small scale charts I find that it works as advertised...

I never used this option, but the current way don't bother me to much.

Why don't you enter a feature request to get i back?

The preserve scale option was removed, and made default ON. One less tick box to confuse users.


You might like to try boosting the settings->Advanced->Raster Zoom scale/weighting.
Or use single chart mode (F9 toggle), at least for small scale pilot charts
