Cant get started

Ive installed OpenCPN and installed my maps of Holland, from the government website no less, but I still get a spiky polygonal low-res map with no info on it. The map of holland has some spiky areas on it, and every now and then something seems to load up (DEPARs?) giving me unrecognizable detail in some part of the country, but then it disappears.

Any ideas? Its pretty useless as it stands, clearly (!)

Goto Options, Charts, Vector Charts Display and select Mariner's Standard as the Display Category and then Select All in the right bottom of the window.
Then OK and the details should be shown.

Re: Cant get started

If I'm not getting any detail, it's isusally because I haven't pressed the A(show ENC text) button on the menu bar.

How about showing us a screen shot.

Re: Cant get started

dutchdavey...
OpenCPN, for performance, displays the charts just when they cover sufficient screen area (= are any useful), in case of the inland ENC cells, it is not always perfect.
Anyway, zoom way closer to one of the chart cells and when a green rectangle appears in the chart bar at the bottom of the screen, click on it.
