Bluetooth GPS Setups Won't Stay in Ubuntu ?

Hi there,

I am using Acer Aspire One A110 with Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook combined with Nokia LD-3W bluetooth GPS. Everything is working fine when I am following instructions for Ubuntu bluetooth GPS setups from OpenCPN site, but when I start again to use OpenCPN the setups are lost and I need to re-write all the command lines again.

Quote:
sudo hcitool scan

Scanning ...
00:1C:88:103:4D iBT-GPS

sudo rfcomm bind /dev/rfcomm0 00:1C:88:103:4D
What should I do to get setups permanently into Ubuntu?

Have you got both the bluetooth and open cpn set to run in your startup menu?
Should be in the list in preferences / startup applications.
I'm using mint today but I'm pretty sure Ubuntu is the same

I would post a question on the Ubuntu forum too. They are quick to respond and someone has likely had the same issue. I'm guessing the issue is not getting it into the root .

Looking at the info in the first post, the solution is to write a script, using the commands entered by hand. Next step is to make this script autostart on boot. Google "Ubuntu autostart", or similar.

Re: Bluetooth GPS Setups Won't Stay in Ubuntu ?

Thanks a lot. I found solution. Open terminal and write: Sudo gedit /etc/crontab
And then add this line on the end of the page:
@reboot root rfcomm bind /dev/rfcomm0 00:11:22:Cc:5B:AD(your device id)

It is solution that work with my laptop FujitsuSiemens, Ubuntu 11.04

Kind regards,
Bane

Re: Bluetooth GPS Setups Won't Stay in Ubuntu ?

I solved my problem as following:
I erased whole my HDD and installed new Lubuntu 11.04 which is absolutely the best choice for my old Acer Aspire One A110. Some how after re-installing the OpenCPN everything has been OK and all the setups are saved and stays there.
