Re: Beta Test / Technical

Updated my WinXP version to latest beta but can not find how to set shared port for GPS/AIS. It workes with the old configfile but installing on an other computer does not give me any idea how to select shared port!?

On 3.1.1220 everything is shared! If you have both gps and ais coming in on, say com3, O will automatically use it to display your position and ais targets. No need to do anything special.

Interesting! When updating my XP system using the old configfile as recommended, under setting, there are 2 ports one namned serial com13 and the other AIS port shared.

Under Debian there is still the problem of getting any port to work even if it works under Mindcom!!?
Raspberry Pi B is running perfect with an 8Gb SDcard and BSBcharts from the Medd to north of Norway. No systemcrasch at all when zooming in or out! Running right out of the box!!

Please explain exactly what you are referring to with the bold text above. Can you supply a screen-shot of the "shared" Options->Connections "Data Connection" window?

Gunnar

O fails to convert your old config file correctly.
If yo look further down in the connection dialog, what is the "properties" for the shared line? You have to mark the "shared" line to see them.

vagspel...

This is a bug.
To workaround, simply delete the AIS Shared port from the connections list.

Thanks
Dave

Yes, you have to use the master branch

Code:
git clone -b master https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN.git
to get the master updates between beta releases.

BINGO!
Did some tests with the code that I got above and that did not work.
git clone -b stable git://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN.git worked perfect after del. the old lib OpenCPN. After installing and setting of AISport and shared GPSport everything works 100% on version 3.0.2.
Chartdata is BSBcharts.
The C-Map CM93-2 makes the Raspberry B crash
When running it with AIS 38400 and about 150 AIS objects it uses aboute 50% CPU
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Hi folks grabbed the latest 3.1.1224 packed and compiled successfully on UBUNTU 12.04 precise. Network instrument data connection working. NMEA data simulator I am using does not generate AIS traffic creates other instruments e.g. wind I will look into creating some AIS data if thatwould be helpful. Occationally a bit slow on startup (looks to be checking the database or similar). This happens when new version is started up for the first time otherwise no crashes so far using it. Good work folks ! Thanks.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Hi Folks

Just tested the 3.1.1224 Windows install version works using TCP/IP NMEA traffic with ipaddress configured as 0.0.0.0 in OpenCPN and port address to the source (e.g. 10110 iana port designated for nmea over tcp/ip).

Works without needing 3rd party TCP/IP software (e.g. PolarCOM) !

Thanks for the efforts

Seasons greetings !

Ron
