Re: Beta Test / Technical

Does anyone know if NMEA 4.0 and beyond, requires earlier versions to ignore extra fields? Is this a retroactive requirement to meet the standards, due to Nmea sentences being expanded in new versions?

--seems like a hackers delight for insertion of code, ...to what end?
But perhaps that is the way the Nmea spec works?

Manual working for people?
https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...pn_user_manual

It is not for me. Ever since I tried to update a Dokuwiki plugin.

I have no access to the server so I can not fix it.

OpenCPN Manual "Dokuwiki" is down.

Is the website running at least PHP 5.6? - I think it is, can't confirm.
Bdbcat, I need ftp access to fix this.

New Plugin

Hi.
The eMail request, where you send a e-mail ise not working with my e-mail clients (Outlook 2016 or Windows mail or RMS express). It would be a great feature if there was a plugin so it was possible to use RMS express together.

Thank you for a great program

Per Appel,

You are right that it does not work. Microsoft has decided to make it difficult for other programs to automatically send email.

Sadly the programmers are not able to program the plugin the same way as e.g. zyGrib fetches the grib files directly. They know how it should work but have no one who is able to write the code...

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Should we still be having to copy cairo.dll and expat.dll out to opencpn\buildwin?
That step is missing from the Compile manual if it is needed.

Rick..
Sorry for sliding in but it's not missing. It's included here: https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...y_dependencies

Thanks Hakan! Tdan Batchutil is quite easy. Developed from your and tdan's earlier efforts!

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Can someone with OS Linux test use of the current Celestial_Navigation_pi plugin found on Sean's github and please advise if two or three fixes can be entered without bombing Opencpn out. If it does bomb please advise what causes it.

Thanks, it may help figure out what is wrong with a plugin that worked after Povl fixed it, well it worked for a very short while..see the sequence here but never was really addressed or fixed.

I forgot to say it bombs OpenCPN out in Windows.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

I had always assumed that the Windows Version Celestial_Navigation 2.0 which is on the Website Download https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/plugins/celestialnav.html
worked.

It does not work with OpenCPN Version 4.2, 4.4 or 4.8 on my Windows 10 machine.
I believe it should be removed or fixed.

Additionally I have tried compiling 5 different Commitd/Merges in release form from
master d6551e7 version bump for star correction

Up to:
Merge pull request #9 from PovlAbrahamsen/master
master d6551e7 version bump for star correction

and testing them in OpenCPN versions 4.2 and 4.8 and none of them work.
See https://github.com/seandepagnier/cel...n_pi/issues/18

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Dear Dave,

Many of us have recently been working to fix and update various Windows Plugins which had various problems. There appears to be no regular process to keep the Windows Plugins up to date on the Downloads Page, although I know you and Pavel generally do it, which we all really appreciate. Additionally some of the original repositories are not being updated as regularly, so we might need to find a better way to get things updated. Perhaps the following will help?

The following Plugins have been updated but have not been updated on the website Download page yet (to my knowledge), particularly Windows versions:

Logbook 19 days ago ptulp ahead of deltabable. Fixed. Windows Release is here

Celestial_Navigation Sean needs to merge stelian's PR #20, Fixed. Windows Release including PR20 is here

Weather_Routing 18 days ago. Fixed. Windows Release is here

WeatherFax Sean has not merged PR's for some time. Updated. Windows Release is here

AIS_Radar Seth Dart has made fixes. 11 days ago. No release yet. Windows Release is here

I have tested all of these plugins, and they install and operate properly and others have have also tested to a greater or lesser degree.

On the Downloads page it would be very helpful to have a date or other indicator for how "fresh" the downloads are, if possible, as some of them have gotten out of date. (Note: The date seems to change to the current date when they are downloaded.)

There may be some plugins I have missed. Perhaps Tactics and BR24Radar?

Thank you for such a great program!!

Thanks to Sean, TransmitterDan, Mike R [Rasbats], Ptulp, Stelian, .Paul, P_Dub, Uwe (and those I've not mentioned), we would not have gotten these plugins to this point without your skills and help!

Reflections:

Or at least indicate the plugin version number. This can indeed be seen by a download link "mouse over" for Windows and Mac packages but may not be obvious for all. Maybe change the link text to reflect version number?

BR24Radar_pi version 2.1, actual download link, is the most recent one for OCPN 4.8. BR24radar_pi ver 3.0 is released but awaits a couple of OCPN patches to be fully usable. OCPN plugin download page will be updated once OCPN is updated. Meanwhile recent BR24Radar_pi, and a OCPN patch, can be found here: https://github.com/canboat/BR24radar_pi/releases
