Peter, Thank you for posting these details. An alternative approach. Have you perchance measured amperage in various states? Might be interesting and useful.

This is a tough one because there are so many variables when it is operating.

The most important thing is the chip. The N3050 has TDP 6W and SDP 4W. You would not use this setup for editing videos or compiling code but it is about as good as you can get for a navigation PC, Raspberry Pi's excepted, where extreme low power consumption and just enough performance is required.

Other equipment running off the same battery bank will all have an effect on the voltage so it is very difficult to measure the actual consumption.

The PC itself will take more or less if the video feed to the monitor is active or sleeping. Also the amount of actual processing that is going on, zooming, panning, quilting with multiple charts, displaying radar overlay. Using the wifi output to the tablet I am sure also uses quite a bit of power.

It is certainly at a point where the PC can be left running on long passages without it have a noticeable impact on power consumption.

An overwhelming improvement compared to my old ITX or netbook previous to that.

Thank you Peter, that sounds pretty good to me. I'll add this alternative to the wiki.
