Australian East Coast Charts

I am setting up Open Cpn on my tablet for an east coast based boat.

I have read a few old posts, but none in the last 12 months that I could find so thought I would ask again.

Is there an option for "better priced" charts for Australia than with the government agency?

Any advice greatly appreciated in advance.

I use CM93 as do most OpenCPN users in Australia. The links in this old thread are still valid. As far as I know they are the latest available. You must use Edition 2, not Edition 3.

The charts are from 2011, so be aware that some changes would not have been applied.

I also use Navionics on ny Android tablet, and the charts are more recent. That was around $50 3-4 years ago, and they have since moved to a annual subscription basis for updates. But I couldn't find the Australian charts on Google Play when I looked for prices just now.

Are you using a Windows or Android tablet? I have seem some comments on here about problems with W10 not seeing the GPS.

It will be on an Experia android tablet.

I found the same thing with Navionics, I have sent them an email as I always found it useful in the past. Not sure where it has gone.

I will have a play with version 2 and see what I can see as they say.

somehow I managed raster charts for all of australia. I believe from scanned paper charts.
