Re: AusENC S63 large scale cells offset

Hubert, Dave,
I have prepared a list of the 'anomalies' I have found with the AusENC charts displayed on OCPN. I have reported most of them already. When you get the latest AusENC charts, see if you can replicate what I am seeing.
Most of the items on the list were found with charts updated to Week 18. I have confirmed them with the Week 20 update.

Re: AusENC S63 large scale cells offset

Andrew...

Taking another look at this AU S63 problem, I believe we are looking at some situation where updates are not correctly applied.

To check this on one cell, will you send me a copy of your file:

{config directory}/s63/s63charts/AU/AU5174P4.os63

It will look something like this:

Code:
cellpermit:AU5174P42015073166D554FB712873DAF1E8A533E54084689289FDF55B8D13A8,0,1,AU,
cellbase:/home/dsr/Charts/ENC_AUS/enc-base/ENC_ROOT/AU/AU5174P4/1/0/AU5174P4.000;VERSION=1.0,EDTN=1,UPDN=0,UADT=20081024,ISDT=20081024;
cellupdate:/home/dsr/Charts/ENC_AUS/enc-base/ENC_ROOT/AU/AU5174P4/1/1/AU5174P4.001;VERSION=1.0,EDTN=1,UPDN=1,ISDT=20121112;
with of course different paths.

This file tells us what s63_pi thinks the current cell update situation is. As you can see, I am looking at edition1/update1, coming from an older exchange set.

Thanks
Dave

Dave,
Here is the file. Looks like it has the last update in 2017.

Re: AusENC S63 large scale cells offset

Andrew...

Sorry, you sent the wrong file.

You sent: "AU5179P4."
And we need to look at "AU5174P4"

Off by one digit...

Thanks for your patience.

Re: AusENC S63 large scale cells offset

Andrew...

A long shot, but sometimes we have trouble with folder names containing spaces.

Will you please try renaming:

...\Electronic charts and plotters\openCPN\Charts\....

to something without spaces?

Or, you can copy you S63 charts to another, no-space-in-name folder.

Then delete and reimport the permits and cells.

As I say, a long shot, but at least we can eliminate the possibility.

Thanks
Dave

Re: AusENC S63 large scale cells offset

Dave,
I moved the charts to a new folder (no spaces in the path) and re-built all the AusENC charts. I am seeing the same as before: discontinuous boundaries, and the Object Query lat/lon are altered.

Not quite true. 'Base Map' is still there. I'll try again.

OK, all done. No spaces.
Same result as before.

Re: AusENC S63 large scale cells offset

Andrew...

Well, a long shot.

I have a fairly complicated debug procedure that I would like to try, if you are game.

Up for it?

First, please:

1. Start OCPN
2. Set to single chart mode.
3. pan/zoom to show only chart : AU5174P4
4. Exit OCPN.
5. In your config directory, delete all the files in s63/s63SENC folder.
6. Start OCPN. Do not zoom/pan at all. When the chart shows, exit OCPN immediately.
7. Post the OCPN logfile.

There will be more after I look at the logfile.

Thanks
Dave

Re: AusENC S63 large scale cells offset

I turned off Chart Quilting and had only one cell displayed although the information was still present for another 3 (S63) cells at the bottom of the screen. Is that 'single chart mode'?

Re: AusENC S63 large scale cells offset

A...

OK, this is good.

1. Now, stop OCPN.
2. Open a Windows cmd line window.
3. Execute the following line in the cmd window: (cut and paste works best...)

Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\s63_pi\OCPNsenc.exe" -l -i "C:\Charts\openCPN\AusENC\BaseMap\ENC_ROOT\AU\AU5174P4\2\0\AU5174P4.000" -o "C:\ProgramData\opencpn\\s63\s63SENC\AU5174P4.ehdr" -p AU5174P42019043018155A0ECEBF8CBB2D2D77BFE08C0AA67A84081CC3BDF004,0,2,AU, -u 8721B9FC615EC56F66358F113147 -e DECBF812 -b 49501 -r "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\s57data" -m "C:\Users\Andrew_2\AppData\Local\Temp\D101.tmp" -z "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\s63_pi.dll"
4. Post a screen capture of the result. What we are looking for is indication that the OCPNsenc program is applying the updates. (1-4) This will be reported in the command window.

5. For fun, take a look at this file, and post:

C:\Users\Andrew_2\AppData\Local\Temp\D101.tmp

This file is telling OCPNsenc where to find the update files (1-4).

Re: AusENC S63 large scale cells offset

Andrew...

Perfect.

Exactly what I would expect. You are a good student...

So, now please start OCPN, and inspect the one buoy position that seems to be reported incorrectly on this chart. Compare to other sources, as before.

Meanwhile, I sleep. Time is 0050 local...

Tomorrow.
